Word Puzzle: Welcome to My 'Ool [Nov. 29th, 2006|11:03 am]

"This is my ool. Notice that there's no P in it."

Below are some anagrams. The only catch is that I've removed the letter P. Add one or more P's and unscramble the letters to produce a single, unpunctuated word. Any punctuation in the source letters is purely stylistic.

People should feel free to post answers for the ones they've solved. Be aware that this means that the comments will contain spoilers, if you'd rather work them out by yourself. I'm hoping that this one will be a bit challenging for you guys. To that end, I put up a fair selection for you to chew on. Enjoy!

Example
LIMB can be rearranged into BLIMP by adding a P.

Warmups -- I found one answer, adding only one P
1. MEND TARTE
2. NORAD
3. RUST ORE

First Round -- I found one answer, adding one or more P's
4. RULE
5. LUNA FABLE
6. AROOS
7. SHOOT! I AM U.
8. ONLY A
9. TUE.
10. IO'S TOES
11. ARE RED
12. ACK! BEAR!
13. SEED I/O

Second Round -- I found two answers, adding one or more P's
14. LAY
15. REAM
16. SAIL

Third Round -- I found at least three answers, adding one or more P's
17. SOLO
18. ALE
19. DOLE
20. ALMS

"Eruptors" was a possibility I missed, actually! I had "posturer" for #3.

I hadn't thought of "mapper", either. I went with the variant "remap".

On #19, I was counting "poled" as one of my answers; so I had the first three you listed as my set.

Nicely done! :D

Thanks! First one of these I've ever tried, really.

I had re-map originally on 15, before I thought of mapper, but I also had pre-amp. I ditched them both because of hyphenation, although re-map may not actually have it. :P

Oh, and one for you: OAT'L :)

3. D'oh! I looked up in thought and saw your answer to this one, so I'm disqualifying myself.

you'll just have to take my word for it that I didn't look

I think the honor system is fine for this. (Plus, I know that you're good at word puzzles, anyway.)

On #10, you found a different word than I did! I had OPPOSITES.

Nice job on #17. That's all that I found (and I had to check to see if POLOS was really a valid plural).

On #18, I had APPLE but missed PEAL, embarassingly enough.

For yours, I got PINEAPPLE and PREPOSTEROUS. The second one took me a while; good challenge. :)

Good work! I was all set to pair up "ALIEN E" and "IRON E," until I double-checked and found it should be "IRON EE," which isn't quite as niftily parallel.

It's... REPORTY! You know, a common word meaning "having the characteristics of a report." Or maybe it's PROPERTY. But what is TRY TOE?

Well done! Getting stuck on only two is pretty good. (In case you didn't check the other posts, they were POSTURER and EPISODE in my list. But Torrle also found ERUPTORS for #3, which I missed.)

Good job catching PLEA in #18, too.
