I bought a serger! (Finally!) [Feb. 20th, 2005|05:58 pm]

After much shopping I finally purchased a serger. This was also after several months of "Do I really want to spend that much money?" dithering.

But I really want one. Besides dabbling in making clothes and SCA garb, I want to try out some of Alopex's fur serging techniques.

So now I'm the owner of a new Viking-Husqvarna Huskylock 905 serger. Nice machine. Fairly heavy (without going up to commercial grade) but without the extra computer-n-gizmo stuff. And I've used their sewing machines before and been impressed.

And, of course, the name sounds cool. I considered a Pfaff or Juki, since they also have odd names, but Husqvarna won out. :)

I'm more impressed with the "huskylock" part of it. Kinky!

"It locks in that husky freshness so your sewing won't go stale!"

Let me know how it works out. I've considered that from time to time, as I advance how I build things...
