It's a fairly painless process to update your location. They let you enter ICBM coords, zip code, major city, or just click on the map image. To verify your identity, they ask you to temporarily add an item to your "interests" LJ list.
...You can also tell who just clicked their approximate location on the unzoomed map as some of the dots are not precisely where people are. And then there's Brokken's dot. :) |

yeah whats up with his dot anyway? :) I noticed that myself
and google intergration would be nice too
I think Brokken sneezed when he was clicking on the map o.<
lol possibly. ther eare a few dots that are like wtf...:)
better yet..... look at twigmouse's dot
Yeah, Twig is surprisingly aquatic... I figured he may have tried to click Vancouver on the first world map and just missed a bit.
He used to live near anchorage for a while so, maybe...
i like how it merges people into a single dot when close, you click and get a menu :)

East is east and west is west, and it's very confusing | (Link)

This may amuse you: http://www.heavens-above.com/geodistrib.aspIt's a map showing the geographical distribution of people who have used the web site. Notice the plethora of dots across central Asia, where you wouldn't really expect to see so many. Does the shape remind you of anything, seen in a mirror maybe? :-) Scroll down the page for the explanation.

Wow, they're right. People got the +/- confused. (It looks like there might be a slight mirrored Australia, too.)
Plus there's a strange vertical line running through Washington D.C. and down around the tip of South America. Very curious, indeed.
This LJ widget certainly does provide its share of amusement. :)

It's curious that there's no sign of a mirrored New Zealand, though.
Perhaps New Zealanders are better at geography than the rest of us :-)
But why am I half way to Eugene?
How did you enter your location? (I used my US zip code, which worked well.)
I entered my username and it told me that I was already there.
Someone must've entered it for you (by mistake?) You can reset it... You need to add something to your LJ interests and then it lets you (you can remove that from your interests afterwards) Though by now you probably already did ^^ | |
