Assorted news bites:|
Special Rats in the News bonus item:
'Tis what you get when you get a bunch of City-boys writing a story about the farm.
I feel sorry for the poor rats, probably trying to seek cover from being squashed by all the scared people running around.
I know. Udders. The hell?
What's funny is that the first time I saw a trailer, it was with my TV on mute. My brain just assumed that there would be female voices for these obviously female characters. It was a bit jarring to actually hear it with sound later.
Quotage from City Slickers II:
Glen: There is something wrong with your cow. I reach under there and I'm pulling, tugging, tugging, pulling, nothing, not a drop.
Mitch: The cow's name is Norman.

I liked that comic-drawing with a woman sitting behind a bull, with the milk-bucket under it, and the bull having a real... PLEASURE... expression on his face, and a farmer standing next to them with an odd smile.
The woman says, in frustration "I've been doing this for an hour, and the bucket is only half full!"

Yeah, same here! It was firmly fixed in my brain that these were female characters. When I finally neglected to mute the TV during a commercial break, I had to back it up a few times (yay TiVo!) to make sure I wasn't imagining things. I just don't understand. It's not like we're talking about some subtle anatomical differences here, after all. These are blatantly, obviously, clearly female cows. It's like having Lara Croft voiced by Charlton Heston. I remember reading abouty how the animators for The Lion King went to zoos and studied all the animals they would be drawing to make sure everything was just right. What did the animators for Barnyard do, pop by the Quik-E-Mart and buy a couple of cartons of milk?
Is that the same Jackie Chan that disrupted a concert
, among other things insulting the audience (I think even using bad words)? =P
I guess I'm the only one here to find it funny that those bulls have udders. I wonder if it was just character design, an oversight or a hidden message
Whoa, that's a surprise. I hadn't heard about that. That seems very unlike him, from everything else I've read over the years.
Alcohol will make people do crazy things...
Indeed. It sounds like he's a really nice guy as long as he's sober. ('course, that applies to a lot of people.)
Somehow I missed that news item. (Thanks for pointing it out; I also found his apology from afterwards.) The last news item on him that I'd seen was about his better side (pledging something like half of his income to charity).
Wow, half his oncome to charity? That's incredible... and great :)
I love your icon

We were wondering why the cows had such male voices. I mean, for crying out loud, What Where They Thinking?
I like Jackie Chan movies :)
But, ofcource, I can't WAIT to see "Kung Fu Panda".. Even though it's a panda and not a red panda, it seems to be a red panda in that movie too :)
I definitely noticed the udders in previews. That's a lot more of a "Wha...?" moment that the 4-legged ants in "A Bug's Life".
Where's Dr. Freud when you need him?
