Films: the Long and the Short of it [Aug. 9th, 2006|12:43 pm]
Since I know I have some fellow font geeks on my friends list, I must mention that I stumbled across a website for a coming documentary:

Helvetica: the Film

Yep, it's a documentary about a typeface! As Helvetica approaches it's 50th birthday, a small group got together to make a film about it. Looks like they've lined up a number of good people (Hermann Zapf is interviewed) and the stills look cool. They list a festival release of "early 2007".

Also, thanks to freakylynx for pointing to Spin [YouTube link].

This is a short film that came out a while back, evidently. It's a really well done piece; excellent use of sound and editing. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

Ahhhh, Helvetica!
What else is there?!

And, as seen on one of my favorite t-shirts:

HAHA! Wow. What a great shirt!

Reminds me of those tests where they print the word "yellow" in blue letters. Except that only a minor percentage of the population will get this joke. :D
