Coincidental Animals [Feb. 8th, 2007|04:29 pm]
Nicodemus
I've been meaning to post this one for a while, now:

As most of you probably know, Kit and I are expecting a baby. We don't want to impose our own designs on this unborn individual too soon, but it seems that fate has other plans.

My mom, on hearing that Kit was pregnant, wanted to have the honor of buying the first baby toy. She'd seen a wonderful hand-made stuffed animal the previous day and rushed back to buy it. So baby's first toy is a blue elephant with little colorful spots.

At Christmas, we picked up a few additional toys. My sisters-in-law bought -- without talking to each other, evidently -- a Snuffleupagus and a wooly mammoth.

So if our child turns out to have a strange affinity for animals with trunks, I just want it on record that it's not our fault. It was plush fate at work.

Little kids seem to like elephants. I read some study on it but I don't remember anything other than "small children have strange affinity for elephants," but I certainly can't dispute it, since I once changed my name to 'Elephant' at age 3 or so. It was because of my favourite blanket, which had on it...yeah, you figured it out. *g*

stuffies

Kit Ping and all her sibs each had a geraffe--boy! is spell check needed gireffe--plus everyone had a bear of some kind. Witchofnovember and her brother each started with koala bear (very realistic ones( made of kangaroo hide and hair --I think. Kit had a big brown bear and try as I might I can't remember her name, And of course you remember about DonKey Quoite (spell check isn't any help here)--the stuffed toy "Look it's a I don' know!!!" But like Ray's frog collection I'm guessing this kiddo will have alot of elephants---plus lots of love and kisses!!

Re: conservative grandbaby

Madison's current stuff toy traveling buddies includes a donkey. A donkey and a snake. We haven't told the conservative evangelical Christian great aunt yet, should we?

Conservative?

No, no. This is training for pulling their trunks and tearing their fuzz off. The child will be fine, I'm sure.

Actually, this is the first I've heard of it. Most sincere and happy (though somewhat belated) congradulations on the first kid!

I'm sure there will be lots of firsts with the newest member of the family for many years to come.

Again, congradulations!

Congrats! But if his/her character is an elephant, does that mean he'll/she'll be afraid of your character? :)
