Space Shuttle Launch in Two Hours [Aug. 8th, 2007|01:25 pm]
Nicodemus
Space Shuttle flight STS-118 is getting ready for launch. Everything's been smooth thus far; they're just now working on closing the hatch. This mission will deliver another truss segment to the ISS, perform some inflight science experiments, and deliver provisions and cargo. It also has a teacher, Barbara Morgan, aboard as Mission Specialist 2. She was the original understudy for Christa McAuliff. Godspeed!

Estimated Time of Launch: 3:36 pm Pacific

Watch online via NASA-TV.

my daughter Agent Miss, just informed me that we will actually be seeing the launch at the same time, she explained things for me that a real time event will be seen at the time it happens!

You're quick. I just watched them do the last of the closeout on the NASA channel. Everything looks very good for launch today.

Thanks. I always like to (virtually) keep up with things. You're certainly more plugged in but I at least try to be an enthusiastic space fan. :)

The program needs all the support it can get, and about three minutes after launch that's how I keep up with the mission too. :) Watching the launches live is a great bonus.

You have my utmost respect. (But I'm darn jealous about that live launch thing. ;) )

Thanks for letting those of us who don't keep up, know when things like this happen. I've been interested in the space program since the firsst space walk, during which Witchof november ran outside to see the full moon (I think it was full) and wave at Neil.

Sure thing. I have to admit, that's one moment of history that I really wish I could've been present for.
