November Plans

So, some good and bad news for November. First, I won't be making it out to MFF this year. We're trying to save a bit of money and vacation time right now. I hope we'll be back out there next year, though, since it's a fun con and a nice crowd.

Second, I've decided to try NaNoWriMo this year. That's National Novel Writing Month, an event where you try to write (the first draft of) a 50,000-word-plus book. Sounds like my sorta insanity!

This is good for a few reasons:

  1. I like to write (fiction and non-) but need motivation

  2. It's an excuse to give in and buy a Mac laptop

  3. It'll make that laptop tax deductable since I'm a published author

So, who here has tried NaNoWriMo before? Any tips? Horror stories? Dire imprecations? Or, even, just possibly, happy anecdotes? :)
