Rats in the News - Special Species Slander Supplement!

A case of bubonic plague has been diagnosed (and treated) in L.A. CNN was so anxious to work rats into the story that they wrote:

Bubonic plague is usually transmitted to humans from the bites of fleas infected by rodents.

Excuse me? The fleas are infected BY rodents? Rodents are not a vector for the plague (they die from it just like humans do), so the only possible interpretation of that sentence is that tiny parasitic rodents are clinging to the backs of giant biting fleas. Someone alert the Inquirer!

This is a followup to my Ask Me Anything post. If you have any random questions for me, add a comment there!

1. Would you write another fursuit-related book?

2. What do you think makes a great furry con?

3. Would you add me? ^_^'

1. Sure. A couple of other people have asked about this as well. I'd like to do a second fursuiting how-to book, but it may be a while. It takes a long time to both write the text of the book as well as to get all of the necessary photos. (The first book required three full-day photo shoots, two evening shoots, as well as outside pictures!)

Are there any particular topics you want me to cover?

2. I'm probably a bit outside the norm, but I love good panels. I like a strong programming track with interesting topics so that I can learn new things.

Beyond that, I like smaller social opportunities. I'm actually pretty nervous with large groups, so smaller gatherings are more fun for me. I'm not good at meeting new people, either, so organized gatherings with a theme or purpose are good to help break the ice and find like-minded folk.

Other than that, reasonable scheduling hours. I can't do the all-nighter thing anymore. Like, at all. I usually kill myself at FC by running the improv workshop until 2am. (You'll notice this year it stopped closer to 1? Yeah.) I tend to function best between 9am and midnight.

3. Uhhh, yeah. Whoops! I'm gonna add you and a couple others I've been meaning to. Forgetful rat! :P
