Ratatouille: Chef's Toque

Family Christmas

We had a lovely family get-together for Christmas (aka Athiest Children Get Presents Day). This was our first Christmas with Timothy and we had a wonderful time. He was adored by all, loved the attention, and almost never went down for a nap easily with all the excitement.

Our kitchen was mostly remodeled. It was finished enough that we were able to cook up a proper feast. Kit and I managed quite a menu, I think:
- Cruditees
- Deviled eggs
- Beef rib roast with potatoes
- Marinated pork loin roast, braised and served with a merlot reduction
- Sauteed Green beans
- Cous cous
- Ratatouille (w/ eggplant, squash, zucchini, piperade sauce)
- Dressing (w/ raisins, dates, cranberries, currants)

I was really pleased with how the meal turned out. There were a couple tense moments as things needed to get done around the same time but no major difficulties. Much yumminess!

Oh, and there were presents, too. (Can you tell I'm fond of the food bit?) Got some lovely ratty art and toys and good books. Thanks to and for my wonderful relatives and friends. :)
