I've finished the draft of the novel I started for NaNo08 and went through and did basic cleaning up to make a good first draft. It'll need a bit of work yet but I like the story and concepts in it; with some work it may turn out quite good.
I also found a local writers' group to participate in and it's great! Geared towards speculative fiction (i.e. sci-fi and fantasy, my two favorite genres), a strong constructively critical atmosphere with a side of humor, and a bit of track history as a stable group. There's about 20 people and about 8-10 show up at any given meeting. Really liking it so far. (I had them critique the prologue of my current draft and it was both helpful and encouraging.)
We've been doing spring cleaning around the house and got the main rooms into decent order. It may be optimistic as it seems spring hasn't yet arrived and it's currently snowing in big, powdery flakes. Bah. But we got a foam playmat downstairs for Timothy with letters and numbers on it which has managed to be educational and entertaining for him. My next project is to assemble a bench/toybox (I've cut all the wood already).
twigmouse came by to visit yesterday and show off his camera savvy. Fun stuff. Photography is one of the (many many) pursuits that fascinate me but I haven't had time/money to pursue. Cool to see him at work.
Talked with Xodiac about panel ideas for RainFurrest. I'm lookin' forward to the con already! Last year was fun; it's at a nice size where there's enough attendees to have a nice event and panel selection (I admit, my con focus is generally panels) but still not feel "too big".
Finally, it was Pi Day yesterday (3/14) and Kit celebrated in proper style:
