Colbert: Eyebrow Thing

Organically-grown update parts, chunked and formed into a tasty loaf. (i.e. not enough for a real, meaty post.)

Kitchen Komplete
The new range hood was installed last week and the kitchen remodel is now officially complete! I'm really happy with how it's turned out (other than "expensive"). I'll post pictures once I find the data cable for the camera. :P

The new range hood is an industrial-strength jobbie. The first one was too small and didn't have the power for the tall vertical exhaust pipe we needed to run through our roof. So this one has four squirrel-cage fans and is wide enough to cover the stove and wok ring and some counter (cooling station?). With all the fans running, this thing can just about suck the fur off the cat.

Parents Party
A local friend and mom had a get-together yesterday. So we went over for a lunch and afternoon event. Their downstairs rooms were kid-proofed, so all the parents let the kids play together. There were maybe ten kids, aged two months to three years, rocketing around the room amid drifts of toy cars and balls. The parents enjoyed barbecued burgers and drank. The joys of parenting!

Especially for Game Show Fans
That's Numberwang! Yes, that's Numberwang. You can even play the home game. And there's the failed spinoff series, too. You can learn about the history of Numberwang, real or imagined.

I can indirectly blame graafen for this one. It explained one of his user icons for the meme.

Anyone for a game of Mornington Crescent? ;)

Fall Down, Go Boom
Amazon's main page was offline for a couple hours on Friday. It's been quite a while since Amazon had a major site outage (at least that anyone noticed). Other Amazon services (e.g. EC2, S3) were unaffected since they're on different infrastructure.

We put a squirrel feeder box up in the yard ages ago. It's one of those with a flip-up wooden lid. Finally, our small black squirrel appears to have discovered it and figured it out.

We actually purchased some new PS3 games the other day. (Last new one we bought was the Orange Box.) We picked up Asassin's Creed and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

The Sonic game does have its flaws but I'm an old fan and wanted to try it. Besides, it was used and pretty cheap. At least I can say it does have some Sonic speed to it.

Assassin's Creed is really interesting. We've just started that one. I like the environment and character animation. The character itself... Well, we start out as a bit of an ass.

Good controls and character movement. He can climb and leap amazingly well. It could only be better if he were a raccoon. ;)
