Yesterday we drove up to Port Gamble for June Faire, a public-oriented SCA event. It's hosted by the Barony of Dragon's Laire where we live. (And, yes, the name always makes me think of the video game.)
My Lady Annora, Master Timothy, and Master Quinn (neighbor and friend) running to the faire. While the rest of us were interested in the crafts and cooking displays, the fighters' tournament, and such, the kids were fully content to just run down the big grassy hills.
You meet all sorts of interesting people and their interesting pets. Timothy talked for quite a while about the "big red bird". I'm just hoping this isn't a sign of piratism. I don't think they have a vaccine for that yet.
We didn't coach him or anything for this photo. This pose just comes naturally when a hero holds a sword!
throw him a what??? Kid comes from a long family linage of geeks--at least on his mom's side, for sure. I don't know if Nicodemusrat's parents--who are lovely gracious people--would want to be called geeks.
Wonderful pictures that make me smile. It looks like the days were great, and running up and down grassy hills sounds like splendid two plus year old fun. The garb is very cute. What kind of bird was that?? Don't say parrot--I can see that, but what kind of parrot. It's very pretty, and of course a pirate-boy probably needs a red parrot!
It is an Eclectus parrot, native to the Solomon Islands. Furthermore, it is a female Eclectus, as the species is sexually dimorphic, and the males are green bodied with some red on them, and yellow/orange beaks as opposed to the females that have black beaks.
