Unusual ferry commute [Jun. 10th, 2009|08:43 am]

"This is not a drill. Man overboard. Man overboard."

Diiiiing ding diiiiiiing ding diiiiiing ding

At least, it's not me. Been stopped midway across the sound for a while now while they do rescue ops.

UPDATE: It was a log in the water. No one is believed to have gone overboard. Arrow found the local news report about it.

Heh, typical. Well, it's good to know they're careful, at least.

Both times I looked at this comment I saw "they found a leg!"

I think I read too many mysteries...

I wonder if they've established a pattern of when the logs are in that part of the water? You know - a logrythym?

Well, there is that weird thing in B.C. where they keep finding shoes with severed feet in them.

Something about this story doesn't make sense. Why would a log be riding the ferry? I think there's more going on here than meets the eye.

I think it's clear: it must be a terrorist log.

That's a cold swim... even at this time of year. We dove the sound several times and I don't think I ever saw temps at the surface warmer than 53...

well that...sucks.

I have seen people swimming in that water though- off of San Juan Island- Lime Kiln State park...pod of whales went by, a chick jumped out on an AIR MATTRESS and paddled out towards them.

A 19-21 foot bull orca rolled over and rubbed his belly along the mat.

A few people try to get in the water with them...

People are nuts.
