Kids These Days, What With Their Geometrically Impossible Ducks! [Sep. 10th, 2010|09:42 pm]
We watch a selection of cartoons with Tim. We select them based on educational content, age appropriateness, and whether we will go insane if he wants to watch them over and over and over and over.

One we do watch is "Pocoyo". It's a charming group of abstract animals and a toddler that exist in a magical white void. I guess. But it's narrated, in the English version, by Stephen Fry! Did I mention it was charming?

Anyway, most episodes have a good little story and some theme, like Detective Pocoyo. Every now and then, though, you hit an odd one...

Ever see a geometrically flexible duck dance? Ever see a toddler raving to happy hardcore?

Above all, it's where we get what has been adopted as a family phrase, the "sassy elephant walk". It's around 5:30 in the video if you just want to skip to that bit. Otherwise, you'll know it when you see it. :)

We are doing our best to ensure that Timothy gets lots of exposure to educational and enriching material... that features anthro elephants dancing.

God, that is bizarre! But lots of fun. I definitely think the duck wins. When your dance moves break the laws of physics, that's kind of hard to beat.

I love Pocoyo! =D I've seen it from time to time while watching Nick Jr, and I'm happy to say it makes me hate CGI just a little bit less, hehe ;] But seriously, it's a cute show.
