This past weekend, agentmiss came down to visit. We had fun and did the normal tour o' restaurants. On Saturday, we saw Great Big Sea in concert; they make for an excellent live show. This was at the Fillmore in SF. The crowd was pretty good: enthusiastic but not overly large for the venue.

This week has been a standard work slog. The commute still sucks. I'm taking a few minutes break from work to write this entry because my brain is fried. I've solved the interesting bug of the day so the remainder will be boring tests and debugging.

This coming weekend will be spent on shopping and preparation for Memorial Day weekend. The Chez Lunatiques crowd will be driving up to Oregon for Egil's, an SCA weekend event. I'm not normally too into the SCA stuff (though the other family members are), but this event sounds like it's fun and relaxed versus the typical ren faire gouge-a-thon.

So this coming weekend will be spent acquiring some camping supplies and materials. I'll then be sewing up some simple tunics, cloaks, and garb for the weekend. Neither 3catsjackson nor myself really own much period apparel, so it'll be a race to see how much simple clothing I can turn out in a weekend plus scattered weeknights.

Take pictures! I'd love to join the SCA and limp around for weeks at a time. :) Alas, I've too little free time to sink into it. At least I know my limits.

Have a great time, you guys!

SCA

Thats my old SCA stomping grounds. Principality of the Summits, I took 3rd in the corenet tourney there a couple of times. I was also Egil's Ithrotir champion in 1998. I want to get back into it badly myself and wanted to go up for the 30th aniversary of Egils (which is this year) but the stars are not aligning for me. I'd have to go alone and thats never fun.

Re: SCA

Cool! As I said, I've not been to Egil's before but it sounds like a fun event. Perhaps we'll meet up at a future event.

Re: SCA

You will LOVE that event! The people are friendly, there is LOTS to see and do and the shopping is to DIE for! (Litteraly) I REALLY want to go but I'm way not ready. I could possibly toss a bunch of stuff in my truck and drive up at the last minute but that event is known to sell out (1600 people) and turn them away at the gate.

Next year for sure.

Re: SCA

It's very tempting, thats for sure. I do miss it an awful lot.

Where are you based out of normaly? I didnt play with too many people from Northern An-Tir. Didnt know many really.

I was a good friend of William Thorenson before he became King of An-Tir a few years ago.

Re: SCA

I only started playing about three years ago, and still don't play much, two or three events a year. I'm in Eastern Three Mountains, and my sister's dog is better know than I am. Ask Kit about it sometime.

Great Big Sea

Hey there! Glad you got to enjoy Great Big Sea. They're from my old neck of the woods (Maritime provinces of Canada). Hope you enjoyed them!

Re: Great Big Sea

Always! They're a great band and I really enjoy their takes on classic seafarer songs.
