So, kit_ping and I are currently stuck in the Denver airport. We were on our way home from a perfectly pleasant vacation (which I'll talk about in a future post). At the moment, though, all of the accumulated cheer is being sucked away by the vampiric airline forces...

We were supposed to get a connecting flight to portland at 5:15 or so. There was only about a half-hour layover, something which was suspect when we originally purchased the tickets. But the booking agent assured us that this was common and certainly not a problem... So our first flight was delayed, the second flight left on time, and we're in Denver looking at a board of sold-out Portland flights. We have one chance to make it out of here tonight before we have to look for hotels. And all of tomorrow's flights are booked solid, too.

This is gonna suck. Correction: this does suck.

Suckage factor increasing, captain!

We've missed all flights out. The airport is pretty much closed. We have confirmed seats on a flight to San Francisco (ahh, the irony) followed by a connection to Seattle! Portland was out of the question. We leave here tomorrow at 6 in the freakin' morning, so I'm basically assured of getting almost no sleep and being sick as a dog. (Apologies to my canid friends for the turn of phrase.) We're currently trying to find a hotel. Which, of course, the airline is not paying for.

Go to the airline, and demand that they put you up for the night. They screwed you up; they're responsible for getting you back.

Nope. "The weather" screwed us up. They take no legal responsibility.

I was once stuck in Denver for 6 hours due to fog. Being pre-9/11, I spent most all of that time sitting in the cockpit chatting with the flight crew.

If tomorrow is sold out, it might be time to start evaluating the cost/benefit ratio of renting a car and doing a marathon drive home. Been there, too. :)

this is why I dont a) fly through Denver if I can avoid it

and b) fly on United....(grin)...

The only place where a 1/2 hour layover is safe is Orange County or San Jose....40 minutes is safe in Phoenix if one is flying America West....

I hope that you can catch a break...good luck!..MLD

Ugh, that happened to us in Atlanta coming home from AC, though fortunately there was one last flight out to where we needed to go. Airlines do seem to have a lot of wishful thinking regarding how on-time their flights are.

Here's hoping you get home soon.

Like Tom Hanks in, "The Terminal"! At least you have company! I can't imagine a more dreary way to spend a day than sick, stranded at an airport. We'll wish some dog-karma out your way!

At least this tells me why you've gone missing, email-wise! Hope it all works out. Will use my immense psychic powers to keep the snowstorm away...

Rocky and I aren't very far from the SeaTac Airport at all. On a bus you could get here in under a half hour. You and Kit can crash here if you need.

UGH. *pets* Sorry. If it were not Christmas Eve, I'd offer you floor space as I'm at the parents' just south of Seattle right now, but it being a hectic holiday, I think my mother would kill me. :( I hope you make it!
