Tropical Storm Alpha has officially formed, marking the first time that the weather bureau's "storm name list" has been exhausted!

My question is why did they not go to XYZ names?
There are plently of names out there.

Agreed - this hurricane should be Xerxes, then there's Yolanda & Zelda. And if they don't get used this year, recycle 'em for next year.

Makes a person wonder though about how many of the 'Greek alphabet' storms will hit Florida.

Plus recall that there was actually one -extra- hurricane this year that happened at the end of May, right before the season started. (When I asked why it wasn't being counted, I was told it was because it happened before it could be officially counted. Now -that- boggles the mind, too.)
